Have you ever tried removing plasti dip and it just comes off in tiny little pieces? We always recommend 3-5 thin layers to get a good thickness that can then be peeled off properly.
Once you have got it so thin that it absolutely is not possible, you can use degreasing (e.g. from OKQ8 which is used below ) and a pressure washer.
Spray on plenty of degreaser, let soak into the plasti dip. Then spray off the residue. This may need to be repeated and is not at all preferable to being able to pull off plasti dip. However, if there is no other way out, this is a good solution. There are also several suppliers of different plasti dip removers that also work in the same way.
It is also for this reason that you absolutely should not use degreasing on your dipped car if you want to keep it! There are some degreasing though, which works. These are of a different base than the usual petroleum base used on e.g. OKq8’s degreasing.
So degreasing can be both a lifesaver or death for plasti dip.
